Golfing Louisiana With Former NFL Player Maurice Hurst

On Friday, November 11th, I caught up with former NFL cornerback Maurice Hurst at Tamahka Trails Golf Course. A mix of business and pleasure on what turned out to be a perfect day of golf.

Tamahka Trails was in excellent condition and is a challenging, yet fun, and fair golf course. It plays longer than the yardage on the scorecard suggests, or at least it feels that way. The golf course has a good mix of holes with some giving you good scoring chances and some a bogey feels like a victory. The greens are undulating and if you miss, require an excellent short game. The overall design was well done with the longer holes having large greens and the shorter holes having smaller greens. Speaking of the greens they were rolling pure. Very fast and smooth.

Tamahka Trails is in Marksville, LA, and is consistently ranked in the top 10 golf courses you can play in the state. As part of Paragon Casino Resort, you can do a stay-and-play package and enjoy all amenities the golf course and casino hotel offer. The property sits about 40min from Alexandria, about 1hr 20min from Lafayette, and 1hr 30min from Baton Rouge.
