Every year there are two tournaments I get involved in that mean a lot to me. Cancer Crusaders annual golf tournament in the spring and Grand Bear's Fold of Honor tournament in the fall. Both have myself and Golf Nola officially involved in some capacity.
This year's Cancer Crusaders tournament, which will be held on April 8th, 2024, means a little more than usual. I had an Uncle who fought cancer for years and recently passed away last week. The Cancer Crusaders Organization lost one of their long-time volunteers, Karen Shindler, since last year's event as well. This year's event is in honor of her.
Cancer Crusaders is an all-volunteer organization that raises money for cancer research. Their fundraising goes beyond just golf and all monies raised stay local, going to LSU and Tulane Medical Centers. They have raised over $5 million since their inception in 1976.
The Cancer Crusaders annual golf tournament is one of the premier charity golf tournaments in the area. Each year offers multiple hole-in-one chances, closest-to-the-hole prizes, a putting contest, and raffle prizes. Golfers receive one of the best tournament gift bags around as well. This year will include a Cancer Crusaders logoed shoe bag (pictured above) as well as a Cancer Crusaders logo golf shirt from Pebble Beach Apparel (picture below).
This year's Cancer Crusaders tournament will be held on April 8th, 2024 at Chateau Golf and Country Club again this year. As one of the best tournaments held in the New Orleans area, the tournament fills up fast and has a full field of golfers every year.
Great food from Don's Seafood, who has been a part of this event for many years, as well as other great food offerings will be available on the golf course and there will be food after the tournament during the awards party.
